You've seen some buggies on the beach recently, and has decided that owning and driving a buggy looks great. So you want to build a buggy, because you are good with their hands and want to save some money.

Before doing anything though, you need to know where you want to be driving your car, and what you need to do. Basically There are 3 places that buggies are driven, and each requires a different build.

First is the road. Yes you can drive a buggy on the road. But for course, must be street legal, and no need for many of the things that others can have buggies, and 4 wheels.

There is a very good road fiberglass legal buggies that look great, and these are usually based on a VW frame and body and built from there.

Then there's the classic place for buggies, dunes. Driving in sand is probably about the most fun you can have in a buggy, but it needs a buggy with specific characteristics. For example, very light, good power to weight. Huge sand tires in the rear, and small smooth tires on the front. Front brakes not necessary, but good quality rear brakes.

Then there is the off-road car designed for the land. Perhaps steep hills, mud and trails. They need a framework of strong and roll cage, because a rollover can be more serious, (ie hitting a tree, for example), the tires are different, the front brakes are much more important, and the framework needs to be stronger. The driving surface will be the hardest and will require better suspension, longer travel and mud and dirt tires.

So if you're with the intention of building their own buggy, then you need to meet your exact needs first. Frame, engine, tires, suspension, brakes, roll cage, the body, if desired.

So it's hard to build your own buggy? Well of course it all depends on your skill level. If you have dedicated their lives to repairing cars, automobile restoration and rebuilding cars, for example, then you might be able to build your own buggy. However, if you have not done much work on the cars before then yes, the construction of a dune buggy is not easy. Skills are needed, take the money and takes time, and be prepared for many hours of frustration.

My first recommendation if you thinking of building their own buggy for the first time? Buy a kit buggy or at least some high quality dune buggy plans to work. Now a team does not offer all you need. You must supply your own engine, for example, but the offer with some of the basic concepts that are difficult to build yourself. For example, if you want a figerglass buggy fiberglass body is not easy to make at home, so you can get a kit with a good body already supplied.

But my number one recommendation, if you are thinking of building their own buggy for the first time? Do not. Not unless you are very confident their own abilities. It is not easy, and usually takes longer than you imagined it could form, and costs more, and while you slave in the garage trying build your buggy everyone else is in the dunes of cut up.

There are some great places where you can find a buggy, ideal for the sale (or even a good team buggy) to a very good price. Usually much cheaper than you could build one for you.

So grab you a stroller, second hand learn everything you can about first, learn all you can about building a buggy for you, and if you really want, build your buggy second time know what you're in for. At least you've got your first driver's there when you get tired of the construction.
