It is almost two consecutive years that the automotive industry has not heard of the production model of Chrysler Group off-road concept called the Jeep Hurricane, since it was unveiled at the 2005 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit.
During his presentation at the Motor Show two years ago, Trevor Creed, Senior Vice President – Chrysler Group Design, said: "Jeep Hurricane is simply the most maneuverable, most capable and most powerful ever built 4×4. Pays tribute to those fans end vehicles "in the form and Jeep off-road capability, but is a unique interpretation of Jeep design. In short, is the extreme example of the Jeep brand. "
"In the wilderness, changing direction in minimal space can mean the difference between an afternoon of adventure and a distress call back to the trailhead. The multi-mode four-wheel system for Jeep Hurricane is designed to offer enthusiasts the next level of performance and unexpected maneuverability, "he said.
An interesting feature is that the Jeep Hurricane has no roof or side door. The concept has only two seats for passengers and equipped with body architecture for increased performance only road out. In fact, the Jeep Hurricane concept was chosen by Autoweek as the winner of its "Most Fun" Concept award at the show vehicles.
Although many proprietary technologies in the development were secured the hurricane, some experts from the automotive and DCX, said the concept vehicle is not expected to be a production vehicle in the near future. In contrast, vehicle technologies, signal design, and technical specs found in the Jeep Hurricane concept is expected to be presented in the models Jeep future because the company believes that the concept of car raised the bar for the Jeep brand. The Jeep Hurricane concept is a body of a piece of carbon fiber, accentuated by the signature 7-slot grille design with Jeep the head of the front fascia panel. As expected from a model of Jeep, the Jeep Hurricane embodies the creative and mechanical expertise of the mark in terms of control off-road vehicle performance.
The Jeep Hurricane concept was the first Chrysler Group vehicle to have two monstrous 5.7 liters HEMI engines, one in the front and one in back. Both engines deliver 335 hp and producing 370 lb-ft amount of torque, with a total of 670 hp and 740 lb.-ft. of torque. The engine is also equipped with Chrysler Group Multi-Displacement System (MDS), which allows the Jeep Hurricane to run on different engine displacements, including 4-cylinder 8, 12 or 16. A 5-speed automatic transmission delivers power through custom multiple modality central transfer case and axles separated mechanically controlled four torque distribution system of the wheel. The Jeep Hurricane concept also has a flange and the ability of the feet that allows you to direct the vehicle turn, the front and rear tires inward.
Expect to see these features of the Jeep Hurricane Jeep models near-term future.
